Meet the Pella Pilates Team!

Natalie

Owner + Instructor

Welcome to Pella Pilates & Wellness! I’m excited to connect with you! I began my Pilates journey in 2020 and my love for Pilates continues to grow everyday.  I have always enjoyed being active but spent my 20s and 30s in chronic pain. Having scoliosis since childhood and three c-sections in my 20s, I had very weak core strength and developed persistent back, hip, pelvic, and shoulder pain. I tried multiple treatment modalities over the years, but it wasn’t until I found Pilates that I began to see substantial change.

Through Pilates, my core became stronger, my overall strength and flexibility increased, my posture became more aligned, my energy increased, and my chronic pain went away.

I started Pella Pilates and Wellness to inspire and encourage movement that restores and strengthens - no matter one’s fitness level when they start. I am passionate about helping people heal from pain, increase strength and mobility, and develop greater balance and flexibility — so that one can then live a more abundant life.

When I’m not in the studio, I love spending time with my husband and three children.  At this stage of life, you can usually find me being an Uber driver for my kids, cheering at their various activities, helping with our home remodel, and going on walks.

I graduated from Central College with a B.A. in Psychology and then graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with a M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have worked in private practice as a licensed therapist, supervisor, and as a consultant. In 2021, I began my Pilates Instructor Training through Balanced Body Pilates and opened Pella Pilates & Wellness in May 2022.

Instructor

I started my Pilates journey at Pella Pilates & Wellness in May of 2022. My athletic background includes a variety of sports including gymnastics, dance, boxing, CrossFit, and Olympic Weightlifting as both an athlete and coach. Throughout my years as an athlete I collected several serious injuries, many of which could’ve been avoided by spending more time balancing my movements and focusing on deep core and stability within my body, rather than just “training more.” I am currently a USA National competitor in Olympic Weightlifting, and continue to train and compete across the United States.

Since starting Pilates, my body has never felt more stable, my core stronger, and I’ve seen the dividends in every component of my life. As a coach in other sports, I now find it crucial to get my athletes into Pilates as a foundation for their muscle activation and body awareness.

In January 2023, I began my Pilates Instructor Training through Balanced Body Pilates to add to my Precision Nutrition Certified Level-1 Nutrition and USA Weightlifting Certifications. Blending my various areas of expertise into a fun, spicy workout, I formulated the FUSION Track taught here at Pella Pilates. Read more about it here.

I have a special interest in working with people with scoliosis and spinal fusions. I teach with a body-inclusive approach and I believe it is paramount to create a safe space for every body who enters the studio.

Outside of the studio, I am a Restoration Ecologist and run a business specializing in restoring tallgrass prairie ecosystems. When I’m not working or coaching, I’m probably working out, playing with my cats, playing chess, or reading.

Amanda

Instructor

I was first introduced to Pilates by Natalie in 2022. I have always been an active person. I enjoy playing sports, working out, lifting weight, and anything that moves my body in a healthy functional way. I have a big love for anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. Adding Pilates to that was an easy decision.

I love that Pilates offers a deeper connection to the core and also focuses on balance and stability. With the addition of Pilates to my exercise program, it has allowed me to increase my flexibility, strengthen fuller ranges of motion, and strengthen my deeper core. It also really assisted with getting a better connection to my pelvic floor and diaphragm.

When I am not teaching pilates, I am a wife, mother to 3 children, licensed massage therapist, and fitness trainer. My main focus is corrective exercise, functional movement, and prenatal and postpartum fitness.

In 2024 I chose to become a Pilates instructor to help others move effectively and efficiently. I really enjoy working with women especially those whom are wanting to become pregnant, are pregnant, or have had a baby. Reconnecting to the pelvic floor and strengthening the core are monumental for women's health no matter what stage of life you're in. I am also an ISSA Elite trainer with certificates in sports nutrition, personal training, and corrective exercise.
